As a Co-Owner, Creator, and Formulator, I spend my time researching raw botanical ingredients, balancing precise percentages, and ensuring every single batch we pour is packed with clean, results driven nutrients that respect your skin's natural barrier. I take immense pride in knowing exactly what is in every jar we make. When I’m not testing new recipes or managing the gears behind the scenes, you can find me drawing inspiration from the Pacific Northwest outdoors, traveling this beautiful world, or snuggled up with my wife and our dogs.

Ingredient Glossary & The Whys
Why so much beeswax?
Because it’s nature’s ultimate barrier. Beeswax (Cera Alba) doesn’t just sit on your skin, it creates a breathable, protective seal that locks in moisture and keeps harsh environmental irritants out. Plus, it gives our lip balms and deodorants their structural integrity, so they melt perfectly on your skin but stay solid in your tin/container.
Beeswax is created by honeybees to build honeycomb cells. Beekeepers harvest the excess wax only after the bees have finished with it or when they are extracting honey.
Why it matters: It requires no heavy industrial manufacturing, no petroleum drilling, and no chemical synthesis. It is essentially "harvested" sunshine and nectar transformed by bees.
What is Meadowfoam?
We call this our “PNW Secret” Meadowfoam Seed Oil is a local botanical wonder that behaves just like our skin’s natural oils. It absorbs in a flash, leaving a silky, soft finish instead of a greasy residue. Plus, it’s a natural shelf-stabilizer, meaning we can keep our formulas 100% natural without needing harsh preservatives to keep them fresh.
Lock-and-Key Hydration: Meadowfoam oil has a unique fatty acid profile that mimics human sebum (the skin’s natural oil). This allows it to absorb quickly without feeling greasy, "locking" moisture into the skin while acting as a carrier for other nutrients.
Protective Barrier: It creates a weightless, silky barrier on the skin that protects against environmental stressors and prevents moisture loss (perfect for PNW weather).
Non-Comedogenic: It won't clog pores, making it an excellent choice for facial products or all-over body care.
Coconut & Castor Oil, in soap??
Because they are the ultimate shower dream team! On its own, coconut oil is an incredible cleanser that creates big, fluffy bubbles, but it can sometimes be a little too good at its job and leave skin feeling dry. That’s why we pair it with thick, luxurious castor oil. Castor oil acts as a natural humectant to draw moisture into the skin while turning those big bubbles into a dense, creamy, lotion-like lather.
The Result: A deeply cleansing bar that leaves your skin feeling silky, soft, and completely hydrated. Never stripped or tight.
The Industry Standard Soap Bases: Most "melt-and-pour" bases sold in hobby shops are made from pre-processed surfactants (like Sodium Laureth Sulfate or Sodium Stearate) mixed with glycerin, propylene glycol, and synthetic foam boosters. They are essentially "detergents" molded into bars.
The B&M NAKED Difference:We start with raw, botanical oils and butters (Coconut, Castor, Mango & Shea). We preserve the natural glycerin that occurs during the saponification process. Instead of stripping out the "good stuff" to make a shelf-stable detergent, we keep the natural fats intact to nourish your skin.
Why do you use Sodium Lactate in your soap bars? It sounds like a lab made chemical, but Sodium Lactate is actually a natural, plant-derived mineral salt. We add it to our “Butter Bar” recipes for two simple reasons: durability and hydration. It helps our handmade bars stay firm and last longer in the shower, and it acts as a moisture magnet for your skin, ensuring you feel soft and hydrated, never stripped, after every wash.

Why does our deodorant work so well?
Most natural deodorants rely on just one or two ingredients, which is why they often “fail” by midday. Our formula uses a synergistic, three step system designed to keep you feeling fresh without blocking your body’s natural sweat glands:
Step 1: Neutralization (Magnesium Hydroxide & Magnesium Stearate): We use magnesium-based minerals to gently adjust the pH of your skin. Odor causing bacteria thrive in acidic environments. By slightly raising the pH, our minerals create an environment where those bacteria simply cannot survive.
Step 2: Moisture Control (Arrowroot Powder & Kaolin Clay): We don’t use aluminum to stop sweat (which is your body’s natural detox process), but we do use highly absorbent botanicals. Arrowroot powder and Kaolin clay act like tiny sponges to wick away excess moisture, keeping your underarms feeling dry and comfortable throughout the day.
Step 3: Skin Soothing Protection (Mango Butter & Meadowfoam Seed Oil): Natural deodorants can sometimes be irritating if they are too drying. Our base of Mango butter and Meadowfoam seed oil ensures the formula glides on smoothly, creates a protective barrier against friction, and keeps your delicate underarm skin hydrated and calm
Why Zinc Oxide instead of Baking Soda? Many natural deodorants use baking soda, which can be highly alkaline and cause red, itchy rashes for many people. We choose Zinc Oxide because it’s a gentle, mineral based alternative that effectively neutralizes odor causing bacteria without disrupting your skin’s natural pH. It’s highly effective, but much kinder to sensitive underarm skin.
What is Cetyl Alcohol, and why is it in our deodorant? It sounds like a harsh chemical, but it’s actually a plant derived fatty alcohol that acts as a soothing emollient. We use it to get the texture just right. It allows our deodorant to glide on like silk rather than dragging or feeling sticky. It also helps stabilize our formula, so it stays solid in the tube, even on warm days.
What makes our Body Oils different?
Most commercial body oils are built on a base of mineral oil (a petroleum byproduct) or silicones. These ingredients sit on top of the skin to create a slippery, fake feeling shine, but they don't actually nourish your skin cells, and they can often clog your pores.

We Use “Dry” Oils: We prioritize botanical oils like Jojoba and Meadowfoam. Which have a molecular structure similar to human sebum. They absorb almost instantly, leaving your skin soft and hydrated, not greasy or sticky.
Zero Synthetic Fillers: You won’t find mineral oil, parabens, or synthetic fragrance here. We use 100% plant-based carrier oils that feed your skin with essential fatty acids, antioxidants, and vitamins.
Concentrated Nutrients: We enrich our base oils with Tocopherol (Vitamin E), a powerful natural antioxidant that protects your skin from environmental stressors and keeps our botanical oils fresh without harsh preservatives.
